近日,一篇发表于国际杂志Diabetes Care上的研究论文中,来自美国国家老化研究所等处的研究人员通过研究表示,高血糖或可帮助预测个体机体随着老化引发的肌肉强度的下降。相比正常个体而言,糖尿病患者的机体肌肉缺失的情况往往会加速发生,研究人员到目前尚没有阐明高血糖对肌肉功能下降的影响,而这或许就可以帮助开发出预防糖尿病个体肌肉功能缺失的新型策略。

文章中,研究人员进行了一项2003至2011年的纵向调查,其中包括对25至96岁的984名个体的糖化血红蛋白(HbA1c)、伸膝力量及去脂体重进行了测定,参与者重复进行了长达7.5年的测定,通过伸膝力量来定义患者的肌肉质量,参与者机体的HbA1c水平被分为四个等级,即<5.5, 5.5–5.79, 5.8–6.09, ≥6.1% 或者<37, 37–40, 40–43, and ≥43 mmol/mol,随后研究人员利用混合效应回归模型来测定HbA1c对患者肌肉的影响。

研究者Luigi Ferrucci表示,在四个不同的HbA1c范围内,患者的肌肉力量和质量都发生了明显的下降,但在肌肉量上并无明显差异;对比最高和最低的HbA1c范围,并且在调整了年龄、性别、体重以及身高的情况下,研究者均发现患者的肌肉力量发生了明显的下降,当调整人口统计数据后研究人员则发现,最高和最低的HbA1c范围的患者的肌肉质量发生了明显的下降,但当调整体重及身高后这种差异就会减弱。

最终研究人员表示,高血糖与个体年龄增长老化后肌肉力量的下降存在持续相关性,但是这种效应可以部分被调节,即被周围神经病变所调节,未来研究人员还将进行更为深入的研究来揭示是否较好的血糖控制可以维持糖尿病患者机体的肌肉功能
