Nat Aging:导致秃顶的基因,增加男性新冠风险和严重程度

空气污染,特别是细颗粒物(PM2.5)一直被认为是一个全球主要公共卫生问题。PM2.5,指环境空气中空气动力学当量直径小于等于 2.5 微米的颗粒物。它能较长时间悬浮于空气中,其在空气中含量浓度越高,就代表空气污染越严重。与较粗的大气颗粒物相比,PM2.5粒径小,面积大,活性强,易附带有毒、有害物质(例如,重金属、微生物等),且在大气中的停留时间长、输送距离远,因而对人体健康和大气环境质量的影响更大。

认知功能下降常见于老年人群,而环境因素会加速这种下降,比如暴露于空气中大小不超过2.5微米的细颗粒物(PM2.5)。尽管如此,短期空气污染暴露对老年人认知功能影响仍缺乏研究。

之前有研究表明,非甾体抗炎药(缓解疼痛和炎症的一类药物,如阿司匹林)可作为认知功能障碍和失智症的一种潜在疗法。不过,之前从未研究过非甾体抗炎药是否能作为空气污染对认知健康影响的一种干预手段。

2021年5月3日,北京大学公共卫生学院高旭团队在 Nature 子刊 Nature Aging 期刊发表了题为:Short-term air pollution, cognitive performance and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug use in the Veterans Affairs Normative Aging Study 的研究论文。

该论文指出,短期暴露(最长28天)于高水平的空气污染中与年长男性的认知功能障碍有关。该研究还发现,在服用常见非甾体抗炎药的研究对象中,这种短期空气污染暴露的负面影响相对较轻。

2019年9月,高旭团队在美国呼吸与重症医学(AJRCCM)杂志发表了题为:Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs Modify the Effect of Short-Term Air Pollution on Lung Function 的研究论文。

该研究首次证明了非甾体类抗炎药,特别是阿司匹林,可以减轻短期空气污染暴露对肺功能的不利影响,对空气污染对肺功能的不良影响具有预防作用。

在 Nature Aging 论文中,高旭等人研究了参与美国退伍军人标准化老龄研究(Veterans Affairs Normative Aging Study)的大波士顿地区的954位老年白人男性(平均年龄70岁)。在多次拜访中,利用总体认知功能和简易精神状态检查(MMSE)分数评测了这些人的认知表现。

随后再将这些数据与他们每次拜访当天当地空气中的PM2.5水平以及拜访前1-4周的PM2.5平均水平进行了对比。

对比发现,评测前最长28天的PM2.5水平升高与参与者总体认知功能分数下降有关,即使PM2.5的水平低于一般被认为危险(约≤10 μg/m3)的水平。他们还发现,服用非甾体抗炎药的研究对象受到短期空气污染暴露的不良影响较轻。

研究团队表示,仍需开展基于更大队列和更详细的非甾体抗炎药使用信息的跨学科研究,验证空气污染暴露与认知功能之间的这种关系,以及非甾体抗炎药对此的可能改善作用。
