天才和自闭症患者“共享”基因

为什么部分自闭症患者会在某些领域表现出令人叹为观止的天赋?美国一项研究认为,这是因为与人脑力超群关联的一批基因同时与自闭症存在关联,这也可以解释为何自闭症没有在自然选择中被淘汰。

耶鲁大学研究人员对5000余人展开基因测评,发现一批基因在多数情况下能增进脑力,但有时也可能提高自闭症发病风险。研究人员进一步用计算机模型模拟自然选择对基因变异的影响,发现自闭症患者出现的基因变异属于“典型的积极选择”。换言之,这些基因是人类进化史上经自然选择保留下来的,原因可能在于它们有助于“提高人的认知功能,但代价就是提高自闭症患病风险”。

这是学术界首次发现与高智商和自闭症都有关联的基因是人类进化的积极选择结果。研究成果发表在最新一期美国《科学公共图书馆·遗传学》期刊上。

先前研究发现,自闭症患者和高智商人群存在许多共同点,如脑增长更快、视觉、感觉和空间能力更强、注意力更集中等。而童年时就表现出较高智商或学习时间更长的人群患自闭症的风险也更高。
