Brit J Cancer:基于人工智能的头颈癌诊断方法

越来越多的研究探索了AI/ML在使用多种成像方式来辅助HNC检测中的作用。这些方法可以获得很高的准确性,可以超越人工在数据预测时的判断能力。

近日,肿瘤学领域权威杂志British Journal of Cancer上发表了一篇研究文章,该系统评价旨在回顾使用人工智能/机器学习(AI/ML)方法自动分析图像对头颈部癌(HNC)进行诊断评估的研究。

研究人员通过对MEDLINE、OVID、EMBASE和Google Scholar等电子数据库进行了检索,以确定用AI/ML对HNC进行诊断评估(2009-2020年)的文献。研究人员进行检索时对使用的AI/ML方法或成像方式没有任何限制。

该分析总共确定了32篇文献。HNC部位包括口腔(n=16)、鼻咽(n=3)、口咽(n=3)、喉(n=2)、唾液腺(n=2)、鼻窦(n=1)以及多个部位(n=5)。成像方式包括组织学(n=9)、影像学(n=8)、高光谱(n=6)、内窥镜/临床(n=5)、红外热成像(n=1)和光学成像(n=1)。

两项研究采用了临床病理/基因组数据。22项研究(69%)采用传统的机器学习方法进行评估,八项研究(25%)采用深度学习(DL)进行评估,两项研究(6%)同时采用了两种方法进行诊断评估。

由此可见,越来越多的研究探索了AI/ML在使用多种成像方式来辅助HNC检测中的作用。这些方法可以获得很高的准确性,可以超越人工在数据预测时的判断能力。需要进行大规模的多中心前瞻性研究,以促进其运用到临床实践中。
