我们的研究代表了临床前评估人类胚胎干细胞衍生的多巴胺神经元的一个重要里程碑,并为人类胚胎干细胞衍生的多巴胺神经元治疗帕金森氏病提供有用必要的证明。

随着时间的推移,目前可用的药物和手术治疗方案可能会失去效力,并导致严重的副作用,如不自主运动和精神问题。

为了严格评估人类胚胎干细胞衍生的多巴胺神经元为基础的治疗方法,Parmar和隆德大学研究主要作者Shane Grealish将人类胚胎干细胞衍生的多巴胺神经元移植到帕金森病大鼠模型控制运动的大脑区域中。

移植的细胞能存活,并在五个月内将多巴胺水平恢复正常,其结果是这种疗法能够恢复动物正常的运动功能。重要的是当移植到帕金森氏病模型大鼠,人类胚胎干细胞衍生的神经元的效能和效力类似于胎儿来源的神经元,这表明人类胚胎干细胞系衍生的神经元可以是一种可行的替代疗法。
