人类是唯一具有强烈用手倾向的物种,90%的人习惯用右手,而另外10%是则左撇子。用手习惯背后有什么遗传秘密?来自英国牛津大学的研究人员希望通过了解哪种基因影响着左右手用手习惯,从而对用手习惯的进化得到一种更深刻的认识。他们运用全基因组关联分析方法,寻找到相关基因。

研究发现,一个叫PCSK6的基因与人类用手习惯“强烈相关”,这个基因涉及胚胎发育时左右肢体的生长。通过老鼠实验发现,PCSK6受到干扰后,会出现左右不对称的缺陷问题,导致器官位置不正常等,比如心、胃生在右边,而肝脏生在左边等。

另外,研究发现其它基因也对左右手习惯产生影响。

尽管研究人员发现了这种控制左右手用手习惯的基因,但是布兰德勒博士也指出:“正如所有其他人类行为,先天与后天都在发挥作用。用手习惯受到基因、环境与文化因素的共同影响。”
